Will J-Lo and Steven Tyler blow new life into Idols?
Jennifer Lopez (41) and Steven Tyler (61) have been confirmed as the new American Idol’ judges.
The singer and actress and the Aerosmith frontman will join original judge Randy Jackson on the 10th season of the talent search show, which will air early next year.
Jennifer and Steven join the panel following the departures of Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi.
But despite being the most-watched TV show in the United States for eight years, “American Idol” has lost about six million viewers since 2006, and recent winners have largely failed to translate their success into chart-topping careers.
Steven Tyler will probably give a new angle to the show. Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton indicated that “Steven is someone who lives to be in front of an audience, and the people closest to him know how witty and entertaining he can be. I don’t know if American Idol will be rock ‘n’ roll enough for him, but it is an opportunity for millions of people to see another side of Steven Tyler.”
What do you think, will these two add value to the show or is Idols going downhill?
